I've heard that you are ovulating usually around 14 days after the first day of your last period...is that true? How can you actually tell that you are ovulating? Does everyone's body show signs of ovulating or is it less obvious in some women?

Sorry for drilling y'all with questions...but i'm wanting to know =)

I will tell u how i knew. This is a bit graphic, but when a woman ovulates, she discharges a clear slippery discharge. Its only for about a day, so u gotta catch it. I know u have went to the bathroom and when u wiped, found u practically slid right off of the area. Well, this would be the discharge i am speaking of.
Here is what u need to do. U can check yourself.......
Sometime around your expected ovulation day, check down there. Put your fingers in and if u r slick and the discharge is clear and will string from your thumb and pointer finger then u r probably ovulating and need to get busy.
It worked for me. I hope it works for u.
Good luck.

Ovulation isn't fourteen days after your last period...it's between ten and sixteen days before your period. If you've got a 28 day cycle, that could mean any time between day 12 and day 18 (day 1 is the first day of your period. If you've got a 32 day cycle, that means anytime between day 16 and 22.

You can use ovulation predictor kits (available from most drugstores with the pregnancy tests) or by tracking fertility signs-basal body temperature, cervical mucous, and cervix position/texture. You can learn more about cycle tracking from the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility or the website fertilityfriend.com

there are a few different ways to tell when you are ovulating. Some women use basal body temperature readings, this is your temp first thing in the AM, before getting out of bed. It is quite reliable as long as you can take your temp every morning at the same time. You can also monitor your cervical mucus, at the time of ovulation, it will look like egg white. I have found great info about this at www.fertilityfriend.com - check it out there is much more in depth info there.

everyone is different . go buy a ovulation predictor kit and you will be able to know 12 to 36 hours prior to your ovulating. trust me they are worth it. some people say 14 days but it is only if you have a 28 day cycle and even then there are variables. so the OPKs are the best ....

It is 14 days before the start of you next period, but that is just an average.

However you can't really know unless you are testing. There are urine and saliva tests, and you can chart your temperature.
