i have a 29 gallon and plan on putting 10 inch dempsy in is that ok please help

No, not enough room.
It's best to do some research on the species of fish you are interested in before you buy it...look it up using many different sources. Many sources will tell you a minimum tank size for fish.
www.badmanstropicalfish.com is a great site that has fish profiles with minimum tank sizes.

Nope, not really. He might be ok in a 30 gallon tank which is much longer and lower than a 29, but a 40 long or 55 would be best.

No doesn't sound like 29 gallons is big enough for a 10 inch fish. Please avoid keeping large fish, go with something smaller. That size fish can shatter tank glass and are really not suitable to a home aquarium, save those for the city aquarium and the professionals.

Not gonna work, partner. Even in a 55G...maybe doable, but even then too small of a tank. Only if it was the only fish in the tank.
A 29G is a great cichlid tank though. Stick to max size 3-4" and put about 6 in there.

Nope, too small. Dempsey's will need at least 55 gallons for 1 fish. Try a firemouth, they're from the same region, are very nice looking, and stay much smaller.

that seems kinda big for a tank that small.. the fact that 1 inch per 1 gallon only goes for tiny tropical fish(tetras guppies) but NOT cichlids... i would think a 60 gallon (tall) is good

the tank is to small it will knock himself against the glass and kill himself get at least a 55 gallon tank

Thats too small a tank. A 55gal. would be better.That would be like you being stuck in a bathroom or jail-cell.You can live but you wouldn't be happy.
