Anaheim over Jersey. Previous poster- What is your problem with Martin St.Louis? Not like he isn't backing it up this year. He is small BUT durable, the same can't be said for those Sabre midgets.

The New Jersey Devils (I'm a Flyers fan) will win the Cup because of Marty Brodeur and a physical defense that will cause teams like Buffalo problems. Predicting my nemesis is being objective I'd like to believe.Remember this, the Presidents Cup I believe has only yielded the 2002 Red Wings in the 21st Century as the Cup winner. It seems the top seed after 82 games almost guarantees an early exit. Devils if they get seed #2 will likely play a team like Montreal or Atlanta which is a good draw. Then, they will play likely the SE division winner (#3) in round 2. Buffalo however, should win vs #8, but will likely draw the winner of Ottawa and Pitt (4 vs 5). Those are 2 teams I think Buffalo would rather avoid if possible.

All you can do at this point is guess, even if you go with the teams that are playing well now, you could still be wrong.

Look at last year when all the top seeds in the West lost in the 1st round and Oilers as the 8th seed made it all the way to the SC finals.

Even so I'm a homer and Sharks made a couple great trades, we'll see if it pays off and we finally get that cup.

The East is a hard decision, I would say Buffalo, but I think they are to small and injury prone and most likely going to fall apart in the playoffs. My other idea would be Pittsburgh, but they don't really have act their young stars and without them protected the penguins can easily shut down.

For the east I would have to go with the safe bet in New Jersey. They have solid offensive skills, pretty good defense and great goaltender in Broduer.

For the West I would say Anaheim, but they have been in a slump lately and will be easily beaten in the playoffs if they don't get out of the slump and start winning again.

For the West though I will go with the Nashville Predators, who are first in the West in points with 88. They have great forwards, like Kariya, Forsberg and Sullivan, along with good defensemen like Timonen and Vishnevski. They also have two solid goalies in Vokoun and Manson. By the way I know Sullivan is injured, but it is only day to day, so he will be back before the playoffs.

I think the Predators will beat the Devils in 6 games.

Buffalo and Vancouver in the final - how cool would that be? They joined the league in the same year and both have 2 unsuccessful trips to the finals.
I was at the first exhibition game the Sabres played in Brantford against the Penguins, right behind the bench. I got Perrault's autograph. I was 11 and it is still one of the biggest hockey thrills of my life.

I think I am going to just stick with the Sabres as my pick. Heck with it. No matter who I pick I'll probably be wrong anyway. If Marty St. Louis can win the Hart Trophy and the Cup in the same year, the Sabres can win the Cup.

(that's clearly a compliment to St. Louis, and I obviously have no problem with him.)

A good chance it will be the Buffalo Sabres. Being the best team in the NHL, they have the highest percentage to win but. You can not trust me because it could be Edmonton or Vancouver or Carolina or anyone.

If it's not my Devils I'd just like it to be a big market team (excluding the Rangers and Red Wings). Seeing small market teams like Carolina and Tampa Bay win hurts the NHL more than it helps.

I'm not sure who will win, I like a number of teams though..Pittsburg, if they hold it together, Detroit, Nashville, Vancouver would be nice ( for Vancouver..)..but there is a lot of parity right now and I think it is pretty wide open..

i do not think it will be Buffalo...they lack the size and grit to make it all the way...
