I was wondering if I should apply at my local Domino's, they're hiring for pizza delivery drivers.

Do you have to use your own gas?

Yes you should, it's a better first job than McDonald's, because the tips can be really good on the weekends, but it's wear and tear on your vehicle. Don't even think about buying a car to deliver pizza because with insurance, maintenance, and gas (yep, you pay for your gas) will eat up your income. They do pay for mileage for $.70/a run or $.35 a mile. That usually takes care of your gas usage, and it's paid at the end of your shift.

Just make sure you use a vehicle that's paid for.

You know - honestly it depends on which chain you work for and if it's a franchise or corporate restaurant. A friend of mine worked for a pizza delivery place in college and they gave her a certain amount per gallon as a reimbursement. But it was a franchise store - which can work differently and offer discounts, perks etc. that corporate stores don't.

yes you have to furnish the car and gas, i'm not sure if you get an hourly wage plus per item delivery fees, since they now charge extra, but you are allowed to accept tips.

They should have their own vehicles and gas for many reasons especially the insurance. If they don't, I wouldn't do it with your car. Technically you are not covered for auto insurance when using it as a business.

They're in business to sell pizzas and make money. Not buy your gas, pay for the wear and tear on your vehicle, or pay for your insurance.
