The fork. It would be too hard to eat pie with a spoon, but you can use either with the ice cream. You're making me hungry. Apple pie and vanilla ice cream. Wish you could bring me some!

When you eat a pie by itself you would probably use a fork, right, and when you're eating icecream which you use a spoon. So if you ask yourself which part you like best you should let that dictate which you use. Or you could go to the store and get some sporks. It's a great compromise.
