im the exact same. I go in the sun, and nothing happens but I turn a bit pink and when I dont wear sunscreen I burn! I got Dove Energy Glow ( drugstores) - its this cream you put on everyday and it gradually darkens your skin and it acually works! It dosnt look too drastic either- since we're both really pale it would look weird if we suddenly got REALLY dark.. but its definatly noticable! You'll be kind of a browny golden beige color that looks SO real!
youll love it & the smell

go to a fairly well-known and well-reviewed salon. ask them to give you a nice summer glow without making you orange - but they should know exactly what is right for you when they see your complexion. you will be asked to change into a bikini and they will lightly spray either with a solution that shows an immediate change in color or one that will take effect after a few hours. you can also have them spray a certain part of your body that will be covered with your clothes and see how it looks before getting all of you sprayed. good luck! it should look nice if done right, and it's entirely safe.
and it's much safer than going out and burning yourself all day...or blasting yourself with ultraviolet rays in a tanning bed...both of which could give you melanoma.
good luck!
oh and about that guy saying it would be bad if they got it in your eyes/mouth...they wouldn't do that ever.

You can tell they are fake, and they still give that orange cast. The sun is just as bad as tanning beds, but if you want a good tan, a tanning be is really the only solution if you want it to look natural.

Spray tans are rather pricey- trying using the body lotions with self tanners such as Dove or Jergens. They're not as concentrated as regular self tanners so even if you mess up a bit it won't be as noticeable. After about a week of using it every day, you should have a nice color.

i would say spray tan. You could buy the stuff but then you risk streaking. good choice on not doing the tanning bed. You don't want to get leather skin in 5 years.

Spray tans are goofy. They only last a couple of days - if that. They look fake. If I were you - I'd just learn to love my white body. That's what I did. Tans are not that healthy anyway.

Neutrogena makes great products and you can save $$ doing it yourself. Look for one that is a good moisturizer and a gradual tanner. i'm wickedly pale too - and when i use these i control the tan, it's not heavy enough to look orange, and i'm moisturized. but i also try to take really good care of my skin with exfoliating and moisturizer so that even if it's pale, it's good to go. and use sunblock when you go out to avoid sun damage - even from every day exposure.

I have never used the spray but the lotion does fine. I prefer a tanning bed starting out at five minutes at a time and then going to ten and so forth. I usually don't burn much unless the bulbs are new and then ouch!! And yes, my doctor does not like it.

it depends how much are you willing to spend. I'm already tan because my skin color is naturally brown. I would say spray on tans work best. The downside is that don't get it in your eyes or mouth that will be bad.
Thanks

Mystic tan did not look orange on me, but it does on some. Try it out, you are smart to not want to put yourself at risk for skin cancer.
