Depends on the kind of story that you're writing. If it's personal and supposed to reflect what you've experienced, writing from your perspective is a good way of going about it.

Conversely, it's a good way of tuning out a lot of other good sources of rich detail or story around the perspective. Like if Lola loves you but you don't know that, it's hard to cover that side of the story from your perspective.

Think mysteries and such can be done well that way because you can hide clues and such from the reader by being 'unaware' of them yourself.

Like I said, depends on the story.

Hope I answered that right for you.

Depends on where he/she is writing. If they are a columnist or on the op/ed page then yes pov is important, it generates interest and provokes letters to the editor.

If one is a pundit , yes pov is also important so that people can discern where the pundit is coming from politically , spiritually, philosophically.

If one is just a general magazine or journalist on a newspaper who brings stories to the editor pov doesn't really matter.
