Has there ever been a TRUE chain letter/email/myspace bulletin that has spread around the internet?

All the letters I read are total crap. like "you opened this so now you must repost in 3 minutes or the dead girl will eat you" or "send to 10 of your friends and the love of your life will kiss you/ask you out [whatever]. if you don't repost you will have 10 years of bad relationships."

I've even seen some that say "my daughter is dying of cancer. such and such society says they will donate 5 cents to our cause for every time this letter is forwarded...please spread."

Is this stuff crap or is some of it really true?
