Song – Amy Lowell
Oh! To be a flower
Nodding in the sun,
Bending, then upspringing
As the breezes run;
Holding up
A scent-brimmed cup,
Full of summer's fragrance to the summer sun.
Oh! To be a butterfly
Still, upon a flower,
Winking with its painted wings,
Happy in the hour.
Blossoms hold
Mines of gold
Deep within the farthest heart of each chaliced flower.
Soon they die, the flowers;
Insects live a day;
Clouds dissolve in showers;
Only waves at play
Last forever.
Shall endeavor
Make a sea mightier than the mightiest sea we dream of today?

Hi there!
I found a FANTASTIC site for you...it is the American Sign Language site. It has these little movies that show you the sign for butterfly (just like how you'd imagine it), cup, flower, etc...

http://commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/aslweb/browser.htm

You have to have QuickTime to view it, but if you don't you can download it for free.

It will work with your song perfectly!

Hope this helps...Good luck!

To begin:
Use left hand level to show ground.
Make right hand with fingertips together push through (or behind) the "ground" and rise up, then spread finger tips to bloom. This is your "flower".
Now make the "flower" bob up and down to "nod in the sun".
Gesture upward to the "sun", make a circle motion and spread your fingers to indicate rays.

Get the idea?

When you get to the line about dying, show your "flower" hand withering and falling onto the "ground" hand.

P.S.: Make use of the American Sign Language sign for "butterfly": Face palms of both hands to yourself. Interlock your thumbs. Now "flap" the fingers as if the were wings. Move the whole two-handed "butterfly" as needed to show where the butterfly travels and how fast.
