1) 1 divided by 5 equals .2, or 20%
2) 160 times .40 equals 64... 64 pounds of a 160 pound adult is muscle.
3) 150 times .18 equals 27, so 27 pounds of 150 pound person is bones.

1. 1 out of 5 is a ratio. Percent is also a ratio of a number to 100. So, set up a proportion 1/5 = x/100. Cross multiply and you get 5x = 100, therefore x = 20%.
2. To find the percent of a number, change the percent to a decimal and multiply. 40% = .40 x 160 = 64 pounds.
3. The same as 2. 18% = .18 x 150 = 27 pounds.
