Sonic the hedgehog is starting to get boring because it seems they are starting to add random intertwining storylines or even slipping in last minute minigames to make every character playable (which can be boring eventually). In Mario games, they're doing thinks like Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Mario Soccer, .... gimme a break. And also, what's the point in making a Mario Party 8? 8!?! Admit it Nintendo, you're not gonna have as many versions as Final Fantasy, which is the only reason you should continue the series anyways.

So, do you think the major gaming series' are starting to lose their touch? Is some stupid little thing like Bust-A-Move gonna bust out it's own moves? Is Naruto: Clash of Ninja going to take Sonic's place in the Action Games Genre?

Here's where you can make your opinion.

So,...

Do you think video game series like Sonic The Hedgehog and Mario are starting to lose their touch?

Mario's now well into over 30 games, plus they've done the smart (if unintentional) move of having a lengthy wait in between major sequels. So no, I don't think Mario's losing his touch, because he's still an incredible seller.

Sonic, however - you have to feel sorry for Sega after where they came from. Sonic's pure speed and fun has really been watered down - and how many frigging friends does the idiot have!?

Anyway, Sonic and the Secret Rings has been doing well, so there's still hope.

I think as long as the games are profitable and selling, they will continue to extend the series. Many parents will not buy games that have vivid violence, and parents are becoming more conscientious of the video gaming world. Also, games like Sonic and Mario are relateable for many of today's parents (they were part of my gaming experience as an adolescent and teen).

I agree the 'bust-a-move' is stupid, and looks like a novice game developer got a big break that totally broke!

As far as action games, following any successful animated series or comic will appeal to action gamers.

But to finalize my answer, no Mario and Sonic have not lost their touch...the gaming market is diverse enough to accommodate these characters for a long time to come.

Sonic got boring when sega released Sega Saturn. Worst gaming system ever! It was $400 when they released it and all it did was make the sound better. That's when Sega reallized they didn't have what it takes to make cool games. I don't know why they still try to make Sonic Games.

Mario isn't that bad, sure they have Mario Party 8 but that's not the only Mario game. There's other games like basketball, baseball, and even soccer. I think Mario is still going strong.

No matter what they do I think those types of games will always be bought and played. The younger generation doesn't really know the games are slipping and the older people are hoping for greatness to return, i guess. I agree to a point with u. I kinda miss those easy to control, easy to beat levels of just collecting easy to find coins and such. I think that's what they are good for. My question is what happens if they don't update the characters?? Would we just loose our beloved Mario and Sonic?? That would be worse than enduring the countless mini games!!

I totally agree with you..all Nintendo does are Zelda, Mario, and Sonic games all the time..its exactly like how you said with the Final Fantasy versions..they should really come out with better games other than Mario, Zelda, or Sonic...its time for a change Nintendo!!!

MARIO WILL NEVER LOSE IT'S TOUCH!!! Besides there a new Mario game coming up on wii called Mario Galaxy!!! It's kinda like Super Mario Sunshine, but it takes place in outerspace. But i think Sonic is losing it's touch.
