I don't think that we, as a whole, "loathe" or "despise" short people. My son is only 4'10" and weighs 100 pounds (wet). He's 25, works as a security guard, and has always been well accepted among his classmates, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. He's presently dating a really nice girl who's about 5'3" and she is just one of MANY girls that he has dated over the years. His short stature has never held him back. It's all in how a person perceives his or herself that matters. He's heard such jokes as, "How's the weather down there?", so many times that he pays no attention to them anymore or he has a great come-back line. He has become quite a comedian--maybe out of necessity. But people aren't laughing AT him. They are laughing WITH him!

I don't think we do. It's true that tall people do have a social advantage for the most part (studies have been done that show the highest correlation to success of people graduating from Princeton University had to do with their height). However, I think that "loathe" is far too strong a term.

On the other hand, there are many who do loathe obese people.

What is so terrible about being short is the negative stereotypes that people have about us!

I always answer cracks about my height with this quip " I'm just as short as I am tall!" That always makes them think.

When you are short you have to ask for help with items on the top shelf at the supermarket and other stores. Sometimes it's just downright inconvenient to be short. Other times it's quite convenient it all depends on the situation and surroundings.

Hey now - I'm short and I don't think I am loathed - I think people think I am cute...or sometimes a scary short person.
Maybe it is different for men. I know there is the stereotype of the grumpy short man who is horrible and aggressive who tries to assert himself because he is so small.

Anyway - i don't loathe short people.
but then I am not from America.

Being short isn't so bad. We can get in places those tall people can't, we have a lower center of gravity and they say the taller they are the harder they fall. Plus short folks are scrappy fighters.

Who ever said it is terrible to be short is an asshole. Some people can't look good unless they are standing on someone
else's neck or head. In other words, they probably have little, tiny weeny penis' which others can't see so the project their inabilities to others.

i don't think that we loathe short people. but speaking from an evolutionary standpoint, women "loathe" short men so much because they are naturally inferior to tall men and other pr editors, and they cannot provide as well as a tall man in a natural society

Nothing at all..and if anyone objects..I'll head -but them in the sternum and climb off my milk crate and make 'em a hat wit it. I learned that from an anger management class taught by the Keebler elves.

Because "short" has gotten a bad rap by being equated with "fat". Just my opinion.
