Fear releases chemicals in the body. No one is immune. Channel the fear into something like wriggling your toes.

My hands used to shake so much that I actually couldn't read the words on the paper! My voice would shake also, so much that I sounded like I was about to cry. It was horrible.I never understood why teachers required kids to do that. But I guess it's a skill we all must learn. It's just nervousness. I suppose they are just trying to get kids to overcome shyness in front of large groups, because this is a skill that all leaders must possess, and being a leader does get you far in life. But man, it was tough. I remember this one major report I had to do on child abuse. I worked for a month on it, and was planning to "get sick"the day I was supposed to present it. Well, one kid was absent, so they decided to squeeze my presentation into that day- I froze. All I could say was "I'm not done yet."I ended up getting a zero on the project and had to do after school work to make it up so I didn't fail, all because I was horrified of speaking in public. Then my senior year came, and also the unavoidable class I had put off for three years- Speech class. Why in God's name did this have to be a requirement? I survived, and surprsingly it became easier every time I had to do it. I feared having to take the whole class over again, more than standing up there in front of the class. So I did it. My voice still shook, but not as much as before. Everytime I did it it became more tolerable. And I found a trick- if what I was reading was something that I was really proud to be sharing with the class (like my ideas on something, and these ideas were really good ones, and it made me feel smart), then I wasn't as nervous, I was more willing to get up there and do it, with more confidence. Yeah- it sucks, but you have to get through it. We all did. Try to find something that will make you feel more confident, and make you actually a little excited to get up there, like a really interesting and intelligent report or story, or even the way you dress. Wear something that makes you look attractive. Don't worry. You'll make it. And then when you graduate you'll look back on those years and laugh, that's what I do! It all seems so insignificant compared to other things if you think about it. You'll be alright.

You have no control over what others do or respond to.
You only have control over your own actions and feelings.
So you need to decide: what is the worst that can happen to me if I completely forget what I need to say or that I mispronounce a word? Death? dismemberment?
People can laugh all they want but chances are by tomorrow they will find something else to laugh about.

Your just nervous...your adrenaline starts to pump, your hands may shake and you may feel sick to your stomach. Suddenly, you have a problem stating simple sentences. As annoying as this is it is difficult to overcome. Just relax and keep telling yourself that everybody else is just as nervous as you are.

It is like in the animal kingdom. Fear of being repressed by the pack if you don't impress them.
