newborn babies do many strange things while learning to breast feed. I wouldn't worry unless you notice this after eating strong food or tomatoes. My baby was a little fussy after I ate curry, but she got over it. If this is happening with every nursing, it is not the taste of the milk.
Usually baby pulls away and cries for one of two reasons. The milk came too fast or the milk is not coming fast enough. The solution to both problems is the breast pump. If your milk lets down hard and the baby pulls off with coughing and choking, pump a little before nursing to let off some of the pressure. If your milk is not letting down fast enough, pump until you get a letdown and then nurse.

How old is the baby? Newborns have a difficult time getting the hang of it, our milk sometimes just shoots out and the baby pulls away because she can't swallow so quickly. It evens out after a couple of weeks. Hang in there, I have 4 biological children and breast fed all of them. It is the best way to start a child off on a healthy life.

Sounds like reflux. It's actually quite common in babies because the valve at the bottom of the esophagus isn't fully developed yet. Does she spit up alot. If it's reflux, she's being fussy and pulling away because of the acid from her stomach is going into her esophagus and causing her pain, it's not your milk. You should have her seen by a doctor. The doctor could give you a prescription for it. My son has it and is on a small dose of zantac and is doing soooo much better now, he's 4 months old and acted like that when he was around 1 month. I almost gave up breastfeeding because I thought it was causing him pain. Don't stop breastfeeding, have her seen by the doctor. Good luck and contrats on your new baby girl!

My babies all did this because my milk came out TOO fast to handle. So they would pull off, let it spray all over, and then when it's calmed down, they'd latch back on and finish nursing.
I'd see if it's that (growth spurts are triggers for that) and also maybe things you eat, leafy veggies, milk, spicy foods are all triggers for baby not liking milk.
I'd call the laleche league for your area. They are very knowledgeable, and sometimes it's just nice to know that someone who is educated about breastfeeding is supportive as well.

Look into her mouth to make sure she doesn't have any sores that are hurting her. My nephew had thrush and acted the same way.
It could also be something in your diet. Sometimes things like onions and garlic will get passed through the milk. Perhaps she's just not an onion and garlic type of gal! Try to tone your diet down in terms of spices. It might help. Good luck!

There are a lot of things that can cause this, most of which are not the taste of your milk. (However I couldn't eat currey or my baby would yell at me)
Read this article:
My baby fusses or cries during nursing - what's the problem?

Also go see a lactation consultant or your local La Leche League Leader.

How old is she? Does she do this at every feeding? Maybe you are drying up. Have you pumped milk to check? If you are birth control, it can affect the quality and quantity of the milk. If she does not always do it, maybe she's not hungry. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor, and hers.

Are you watching what you are eating? Sometimes if you eat foods with a lot of spices...not necessarily spicy, but like if something has a lot of onions or garlic in it, that can change the flavor of the milk.

She may not have a good enough latch or your milk may come out to fast for her. Talk to your doctor they can help you find a lactation consultant. Or check out your local la leche league group (links below). They can help too. I had problems with my son at first turns out he didnt have a good latch. Good luck and your doing whats best for your baby !

How old is she? She could have reflux or thrush - make sure you get this taken care of ASAP!!
www.kellymom.com is a great resource for breastfeeding questions. Also, I would contact your local Le Leche League or a lactation consultant.
Good Luck!
