Can anyone describe the role volcanism plays in the rock cycle.

Volcanoes produce igneous rocks such as granite, pumice, and obsidian. They all play an important factor in the world today.

Volcanism is the main process in forming extrusive igneous rocks.

I guess you could call it the "birth of a rock/mineral", erosion, deposition and metamorphosis would follow. If near a subduction zone it might be forced down and melt again.
