Nouns aren't ACTUALLY persons, places or things, they are the WORDS or the NAMES for persons, places, or things. So "mother" is the word for a person, right? (Although it could be an animal, which you might prefer to think of as a "thing") "Lisa" is the name for a person.
I don't know if you need this, but basically if it's the WORD for a person, place or thing, it's a common noun (written in small letters); if it's the NAME for a person, place or thing it's a proper noun (starts with a capital). So, mother, lake, and building are common nouns, and Lisa, Lake Superior and the Empire State Building are proper nouns.

if it says "my mother" then it is a thing. "Mother" without (my or her, his, etc) is a Person. it also is related to proper nouns. "Lisa" would be a person. If its kindergarte it shouldnt be too complex. so i would say for kindergarten age, Mother, Lisa, Sarah, anything like that, should be considered a person.

The word Mother is definitely a person.
Unfortunately, mostly unappreciated, but nonetheless, a person.
Just think how much better the world would be if Mothers were appreciated for what they provide and do for their family.
