You can only copyright your pictures. If you are over 18 then you are fair game. That's how paparazzi makes a living.

You cannot copyright your image because it is not a fixed form. But the photographer does not have the right to indiscriminate display of the image either.
If the image is used in the the context of a product endorsement, for example, your image and the words underneath say "great people use ACME explosive powder" that would be illegal unless you gave prior permission. That is why commercial photographers get model releases. Even if you gave permission, as a recognizable celebrity it would still be illegal unless you have in fact used their "explosive powder".
But for news purposes, which includes magazines, if your photo likeness accompanies a story that is about you, you are out of luck. If the photo is doctored, that is they put your head on some ridiculous body, then that is libelous because it is not reporting a factual event, and actually created a fraud.
The photography of people when they are in public places is usually permitted. Photography in locations where people have a reasonable expectation of privacy, like in a home or private yard, can only be done with permission. The photographer would not have the right to use those images otherwise, even for news.

lmao, it would probably get rejected at the patent office, and since there's no box for this on the copyright submission form they probably wouldn't accept it either. I suppose hairdressers and makeup artists have already filed a grievance, but to the best of my knowledge the answer is NO.

Everyone owns their likeness for commercial purposes. If you are a public personna, then your picture can be published without permission or payment. But they cannot use your likeness specifically to market something without having a deal with you. In other words, People Magazine can publish a story about you with pictures without your permission. But one of their advertisers can't put your picture in their product ad without paying you.
