I think it's criminal how overlooked it was.

Hey, I loved "The Departed" and it had style and star-power, I don't begrudge it its win. (And I'm delighted Scorsese finally got his Oscar.)

But "Children of Men" really stayed with me, it was one of the best movies I've seen in years. My top five movies for the year were the four Best Picture nominees, less "Babel" which I found really underwhelming, and with "Children of Men" at the top of the pack.

I also cannot believe the Academy didn't give it the cinematography award - it was astoundingly well-shot, in a "How did they even do that?" way.

I think "Children of Men" will be one of those films people will look back on and wonder how they missed out on it the first time around.

Michael Schorsesee had been cheated out an Oscar plenty of times, so this was like making up for it.

I thiink it's too good for an Oscar, in fact. Oscar is really not about quality.
