Never really took much notice of the Jam when they where at the top mainly cos my little sis was a fan but have now started listening to them all mod cons is superb my fave is the very dark down in the tube station at midnight still very relevant today maybe even more so ! this question springs from a conversation in the pub last saturday lunchtime your views please !!

If you think about it, any band or musician who has been inspired by another, will use a certain amount of that style in their work.

There are only so many notes available and so many ways to sound them (instruments).

The style of Paul Weller was distinct and a lot of people missed the raw talent that he has always had.
I think that a lot of the young rock bands that are becoming established and still up and coming, are a testament to the power of a rock idol like Weller.
Try listening to a cover of 'Thats Entertainment' by 'Busted' of all bands.
I was really surprised!

i think all bands today with a few exceptions rip of old rock and pop i think there has not been anything original since punk
