I am currently pregnant. When the baby is born, the father wants it to be catholic. I personally would like it to remain unbaptized like myself in case it wants to find some sort of religion when its older. I'm leaning towards the catholic religion, because i myself am 16 and don't know too much. I am unmarried and under age, does anyone know if I could still have baby baptized catholic if i'm not baptized at all myself? Thanks!

if u want to become catholic go ahead and join a church. as long as u r a member u may baptize. the sin is not the baby, the sin was the premarital sex. the baby never sinned.

in my religion babies don't get baptized because we believe that as a parent u cannot "save" your child. your child would need to decide to on their own whether to be baptized or not and be saved. as a parent your responsibilities are to educate your child on God and his teachings and to teach prayers. good luck!

Just because you baptize your baby does not mean that later in life he or she can choose another religion. As for being baptized Catholic if you are not- talk to a priest at the church you are interested in. They will know what you need to do.

I have the same problem. I am Catholic and my boyfriend is not and isn't baptized. The answer to your question is yes you can still have your baby baptized even though you are not Catholic.

By all means you should baptize your baby. Baptism removes the original sin and puts the baby in the grace of Jesus. I don't mean to start a long discussion, but I just wanted to get this across so that you don't delay this very important duty for your baby. I'd also ask that you speak with your priest. Just take your time and explain to him your situation and ask him whatever questions you have; he'll be glad to help.

God bless.

Follow your heart, I know many people that wish they weren't baptized. Most churches don't want to have anything to do with unmarried pregnant mothers. I would let the child decide if I was you.
