When I take my foot off the pedal it dies. Can anyone give me an idea of what could be wrong?

My guess is that as it happens when you take your foot off the gas pedal, it isn't an ignition problem......... but could possibly either the idle speed is set too low (in which case it most likely needs a tune-up to adjust it), a throttle cable problem, cr*p in the fuel filter...... or it could just be too damn cold and the engine & transmission needs a little while to warm through, and get the oil flowing and doing it's job.

On a 1966 VolksWagon Bus the most common problem is the ground strap above the carrier member for the trans axle gets corroded.
You'll have to drop the engine out and replace the strap.
Hope this helps.
You neglected to mention what you drive so I had to guess. I hope I was right.

ok.check these things out.check the gas filter first, then it could be the throttle position sensor or the idle air control.but it sounds like its starving for gas,so its probably the gas filter.

Is your check engine light on? Get your computer scanned and see if there are any codes.
