You can order your own credit report from the three major credit reporting agencies.
1. TRW CREDIT BUREAU
1-800-392-1122
Copies are $7 each

2. EQUIFAX CREDIT
1-800-685-1111
Copies are available for up to $8 (depending on your state)

3. TRANSUNION CREDIT BUREAU 1800-916-8800
Copies can cost up to $15 (depending on your state)

Check with these companies and you will know everything on your credit report. However, let me give you some advice. Go to your interview. Some companies say they will run a credit check, but they never do. What they WILL check is your previous employers and what they thought of you. Also, if they do check your credit report and they see something on it, that may not prevent you from being hired. It depends on the job, but I'm assuming you aren't applying with the FBI or CIA. Government jobs are more picky about that sort of thing only because they don't want to hire someone who will commit espionage because they are having financial issues. More than likely, you will be given a chance to explain, or it won't even come up. I worked for several years as a personnel manager with a home health company. I hired and I fired. We always said we would check credit, but we didn't. But I always checked with past employers. Your references don't mean much because you could put your best friend on there for all they know. The most important thing is a good resume, a good look, a firm handshake, eye contact, confidence, real skills, and a good employment history. Go to the interview. Even if you don't get the job, it will be good practice for the next one.
