Vickeh, "windows media center all the way", okay Vickeh, Media Center is Windows XP just with Media Center software, it's the same OS. So if you hate Windows XP and you hate Vista then you have to hate media center as well. Yes, I like pointing out flaws in other people's statements and no, you don't have to like it. Also note that Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate Edition come with Media Center out of the box.

That being said 10 differences between XP and Vista (of course it depends on which version you get).

Ultimate Edition has:
Bit locker drive encryption
Aero Glass
IE7 Sandbox (isolated ActiveX controls)
Enhanced Speech recognition (it's there but I wouldn't use it)
Windows Defender (yes, Windows XP has it but this one is also integrated into IE7)
Secure Startup Mode
User Account Control (programs require your explicit permission to execute Admin level instructions - in non-admin accounts an administrator password MUST be provided, admin accounts can simply click "Continue")
DirectX 10 (there will be no DirectX 10 for Windows XP)
HDCP support (only with an HDCP enabled video card, display and appropriate HD-DVD or Blu-Ray drive note those drives are not compatible with Windows XP or earlier)
Windows Shadow Copy Backup System

All this applies to Vista Ultimate, Home Premium does not have Shadow Copy or Bitlocker drive encryption.
