All kinds of factors can disturb your normal cycle - stress being a major one, might something be on your mind - you might think that you're coping with things really well but your body will always let you know you're not in some way or another! By the way, I'm impressed that you know your dates - at 17 I didn't have a clue, too lazy to keep track!

I feel for you and know EXACTLY what you are going through!
The same thing has happended to me a few times. I have had my period a week early and as much as a week late! I talked to the doctor and they told me it was probably stress. Meanwhile...I did some research of my own and found out that it was Endometriosis. My mother had it too I found out later.
Are your periods painful? If so, then that's probably what it is. The main symptoms of Endometriosis are late/early(unpredictable) periods, painful cramps during menstration(mine were so bad I wouldn't be able to move and would actually throw up sometime!), pain during sex(that happens to me every once in awhile) and longer periods then normal(mine used to be 7-10 days. Average is about 3-5).
Don't give up hope though! All your research will asy that you have to get surgery(laproscopy) or take birth control pills from now on, but it's not true!
I found some natural herbal stuff that really works! It's called Endo-Ex. You just add a couple drops to water every day and it's gone! After 1 month of taking it, my periods weren't half as painful. After 2 months I had normal(28 days) cycles and normal periods(about 5 days) and practically NO cramps! I didn't even have to take advil or anything! It's great!
Even if it turns out that you don't have Endometriosis, please check out this website:

Their stuff really works and I'm sure you will find something to stabilize your periods. I wish you the best of luck!

Yes Sheril,
It'll be that way until your hormones have a chance to balance themselves to the normal for your body. No worries. Besides you
did get your period later than most so yes by all means expext a
few abnormalities. You certainly have been Blessed, as I started mine at 10 I believe, my Mom let me take the day off school. I just wasn't ready for that! See how different every person is?

Pretty normal at your age to have erratic periods, but if you have had sex recently, it may put your mind at rest to buy an over the counter pregnancy test, then if negative keep a record of periods dates and chat with your Doctor, and of course if positive also chat with your Doc., Good to deal with these type of things sooner than later.
