HELP!!! I just had my second and last interview at a local fast-food restaurant. The interview went off without a hitch and the manager told me that she would hire me on the spot, if she knew that my parents concented to me working till the end of my shift at 10:00 pm. She told me to talk it over with them and then call her. Well my dad said yes, and so I called and told her, and then she asked if I had the ORIGINALS of my birth certificate and social security card. I told her I would check on it and call her back as soon as I knew. I DON'T!!! I only have copies!! Pathetic, huh? I'm so upset! Is it really nescessary to have them original? Oh, no. Please help. :'(

If the copy of your birth certificate has a raised seal, it's as good as an original. Bring her the copy of your SS card and apply for a replacement one immediately. If the names match up, you should be good to go for the couple of weeks it will take to get another SS card.

Companies are required to hire people who can submit 2 forms of valid ID. A birth certificate is one, but if you have a Drivers license and SS card, you should be good.
