I swear alot at work, though I am very respectful, I will never swear in front of either a lady or children, there are horses for courses,
and the horse should be able to know which race it is running.

I don't swear in English so there would be no need to ask me to stop.
I find it that when you try to ask someone who swears a lot to stop they tend to have violent reactions to it so there might possibly be no polite way to do it; however, if need be I would say something along the lines of the following:
Excuse me sir/mam, would you mind removing yourself from my presence and that of my children with your foul language or in case you do not want to walk away could you please be aware that if you don't stop swearing my dear friend white is going to pounce on you and eat you and the rest of your family for dinner?

i swear a lot, but always give the head check look left / right, then off i go
never swear in front of children and only slip on occasion around women
typically only swear around my buddies
and if i did slip all you would have to say to me is "hey potty mouth" and then just give me the look

it's incredibly rude to swear in front of children and not particularly nice to swear at all though I confess to a bit of that whilst driving my car in the Atlanta traffic. I think a simple "There are children present, would you mind not cursing" should be sufficient.

I don't know, I don't swear myself, but had encountered people that were absolutelly rude and didn't care. I just had to explain my kids that this kinds of people are stupid becasue they do not have a very developed vocabulary and don't know how to express themselves, so they simply make use of the stupid swear words, which don't make any sense at all. And I had to teach them not to repeat any of them if they don't kow what it means or if they mean something innapropriate. I think it's better to tell the kids the truth. They can deal with that.

Good luck. If you find out let me know. My boyfriend swears like a sailor (blames it on being in the military). IF we ever have kids I know I don't want him to swear in front of them.

i don't swear, but a good way to tell them is to remind them there's ladies/children around, and if it's just you, then just go with it lol
