No you do not have to own a house. It's easy to check out the Bankruptcy laws. Be very care full of adds in the paper saying they do Bankruptcies etc. My husband and I were scammed $1,700.00 because we did not check the guy out. Turned out he was wanted by the Attorney General for many different scams.
