To be open to this type of thing is a big risk. It either works, or ruins. When this idea opens to me, It usually ends at that. If your partner has thought about it, then the mind is either getting bored or getting open. But, then isn't a relationship all about two people making new experiences TOGETHER. it's a two way street and everyone is different. Sometimes it helps to look at the person. If you don't want to, but you feel pressured into doing it, then your not doing it for the right reasons. If you liked the idea, and trust you other half then you know the risks.
As for the couple, if they're are prepared to do it 5 times without telling each other, what's going to stop them doing it more than 5 times and not telling.

I personally think that if someone wishes to have an open marriage then they shouldn't get married. Also, if you're allowed to engage in extramarital activities 5 times per year yet your partner isn't aware, then who monitors the number to ensure one is following those guidelines? I think it's putting yourself in a situation where you're taking a lot of chances with regard to the demise of ones marriage. Even if a couple decides to have an open marriage, if one of those parties decide they don't wish to do so any longer, what happens if the other party refuses to stop this behavior? When people get married, most perceptions of marriage pertain to a monogamous relationship. I have known several couples who had an open marriage and there were a lot of problems in each situation. I hear people talk about how it makes them a stronger couple. I'm not clear on how having sex with another makes one feel closer and stronger to their spouse.

Wise up. Bank robbery always sounds like a fairly simple and reasonable thing, until you are in the midst of it or running from the cops. Damn, do you really need to ask such a question? Havent you gotten smart enough yet to realize that there are always things to be tempted by and that there are always unintended consequences and things you didnt think of?
Remember this. Most wrongs always sound like they are more fun, less dangerous, less wrong and less costly then they usually turn out to be.

that is nasty.... when you get married there is something that is called loyalty... you should not want to share anyone.. what if the other person perform better than you? Swinging is for single people who have no morals and self respect. There is just to many dirty people out here in this world for anyone to be doing things of that nature. you have to know who you are with and who they have been with so you can keep track of who is all in your bed. Keeping it to a min or trying to put a limit is not going to work because if it is good I am going to get it as much as I can... so don't do it... your relationship will be in jeopardy

What is the point in being in a "relationship" anyways ? If a
person is not monogomous and faithful, and loyal, not to
mention,..there would be no trust at all. It's like they are
animals...and us human being are built to have more common
sense..eh? Why bother having a "significant other"?? Then
they can be free to be a HO all they want.

This jsut sounds like someone wants to cheat without the other's knowledge. If you really want this, then do it together with another couple or a friend so both of you can enjoy it together.

Open relationships are for couples who are together purely for financial and social obligation, not love. Of course they are not jealous because there is no emotional attachment, and divorce would not suit their situation. I'm sure these couples have rules about sleeping with other people, namely making sure that some sort of testing of the potential lover is done, among other precautions for STD's.

Why get married in the first place if the "marriage" is going to be like that, that is ridiculous. I honestly don't feel that things would be the same afterward and I would never agree to something like that.

Yeah even though it sounds like fun, it would defeat the purpose of marriage!
