I think it has to do with people's lack of respect for people that don't seem to have control over their bodies. This falls into the same catagory of anyone that doesn't seem to have it together, whether it's being under the control of drugs, alcohol or food. It is really unfair to treat people with such disregard because often people with such problems are the SWEETEST people in the world. My mom was overweight as are my 4 siblings and a few of my friends. Everyone tells me that my mom was one of the nicest people they'd ever met.
A big part of the reason for people's treatment of overweight people has to do with their own insecurities about body image. It's a selfish world we live in andI pray that people will just be good to each other unconditionally.

It's sad but it's life. There is always going to be a group of outcasts and people will always make judgements based on their apperance. It's the same with "ugly people" and other social outcasts. If you really care next time you see it happening stand up for the person who won't stand up for themselves or set an example by getting to know them, some people are on the defense so they might take your niceness as a ploy and be mean to you. Don't be offended look at what they go through daily.

Fat people get treated differently because some people just don't know how to act around them. I am a "big" girl, and it's almost as if people are trying to watch what they say-in some cases. When we get made fun of, people just do that to feel better about themselves! I can understand that being around someone really different than you can be tuff, because you don't want to say something that could hurt their feelings.

It's becasue in today's society "The Image" is skinny and attractive. If you're not thin people will look at you different, period. Americans espically see what 99% of the people look like and think that is how everyone should be and if you don't look like 99% of the people then you get mistreated. It's just the way life is. It's complicated, really.

well i know i have tried to be nice too fat people but i have found them to be liars they all seem to think they eat no more then me. they said they don't eat lots of junk food and they exercise.
they are fat rude bossy and ignorant.
we must help them to understand gluttony is a sin.
we should have some sort of law that requires them to have a chip in them that keeps track of what they have bought as far as food and then it would stop them from having more then enough food . no person should be allowed to feed a fat person either .
soon i am sure we will as a people force the fat ones to either get in shape stop lying or die. that's the simple way of it.

Society has placed a brand on fat people. Telling us how to see what kind of people they are, how to feel about them and what to say about them. Society has an obsession with skinny bodies.
Which is obviously not so healthy. Society is full of stereotypes and fat people are just one of them. Society isn't perfect but perfection is different is everyone's eyes.

Because some people are just mean & don't care about hurting other peoples' feelings. If they would stop to think that this could be them or someone they care about maybe they would be kinder. Heavier people are just more to love in my opinion.
