No, it's not Nintendo's fault. Unfortunately, we live in a very litigous society, so if Nintendo didn't do a mea culpa of sorts, they probably faced a bunch of bogus lawsuits.
It is rather the fault of stupid, inattentive parents mostly.

In a way it's Nintendo's fault... There are too many people that spend way too much time planted on the couch and staring at the TV without moving around at all. You get them into a situation where they are actually interacting with others, moving their bodies and having real fun, well, they're just plain out of practice!
But still, people need to exercise a little common sense and make sure that they have enough space, and aren't getting carried away.
Maybe Nintendo should put a warning label on the Wiimote: "Warning: Persons not used to movement or having fun should operate while seated."

No it's not Nintendo's fault. The people with the injuries were just careless, I have not had a problem with the wii. My arm just get a little sore form playing it so much, but that's all. Those people were just to rough with it that's probably why the wrist strap broke and the people who dislocated their knee, they probably didn't clean up around them and they tripped or something.

well people are breaking TV's, because the "faulty" strap right? well if the people wern't stupid enough to let go of the controller then they wouldn't have a problem. when was the last time you played tennis and let go of the racket during mid swing? baseball might be an exception....but no not nintendo's fault

Of course it's not nintendo's fault. It says to wear the strap and make sure there's no objects in front of you. The straps don't break. That's an urban legend.
