It's now 7:30pm and things are slowly beginning to get going. I'm trying to find ways of passing time. Any suggestions?

I'm 40+ weeks, 5cm, 90% effaced and going to have a water birth at a Birthing Center.

I'm having a Natural Childbirth, NO hospital included. I have a Midwife who has sent me home to let things progress Naturally. No pain meds or pitocin required. The way Mother Nature intended. So please, no lecturing.

You should walk as much as you can and try to get on all fours when having a contraction..gravity helps. Try to stay off your back for the same reason. I had my last daughter naturally and she and I were much better for it....congratulations and good luck!

I think it's great that you're having a water birth. Enjoy it! Natural birth is really empowering.

As for your labor...count yourself lucky that you're not in a lot of pain right now. Honestly? I'd go get some sleep if you can! Most likely, your labor pains will intensify by midnight and you're going to be deep into labor in the early morning hours.

Sleep, sit down, EAT healthy food that will stick with you during labor, watch a movie, go walk around the mall, finish packing your hospital bag, have sex...

...by the time you decide, you'll be in too much pain to do any of these things!

:)
Good luck!

I don't know about you, but I would be impatient as hell. I hate playing the waiting game. Just get a really good friend on the phone and talk about everything you can think of. Or you could try a movie. I don't think it would help me out much because I would have been to the hospital at least 3 times by now. Congrats, I'm so happy for you, and I wish you the best of luck. I can't wait for mine.

Lay down and try to rest. If you're not contracting yet, I'm sure it'll happen soon and you'll want all of your strength. Lucky you. I didn't get a delivery like that.

Edit: DO NOT have sex. Since your water has broken, it can open your baby and body up to infection. Taking a bath is obviously okay as you are planning a water birth.

Awesome, way to go honey! First off, congrats on having the courage to deliver your little one the way YOU want! If you want to try and move things along, try walking. This may seem like the last thing to think about, but nipple stimulation can help too . .as well as having an orgasm, or two. It may sound odd, but it could be the most fun way to speed things up. Besides, who said birth couldn't be pleasurable!

Wow!!! Good Luck! Maybe you should be heading to the birthing center soon...I know when I was at 5 cm it only took an hour to get to 10.....I know everyone is different but better to be safe than sorry.... Much, much good luck to you~~~~~

They sent you home with your water broken? DO NOT get into a bath - you can get infections.....

Good luck and I hope you have a very good delivery!

By the way - walk. Rock in a rocking chair.

How can you be typing and be screaming at the same time? You should be trying to think about labor first before typing anything else. Also, could you update us about how your birth went?
