yes but not always. having beauty makes girls more confident in beauty contests but not at school. Brain is more important than beauty. Remember that Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Dont worry about what others say about ur appearance, ur as beautiful as who u r no matter what others say. Inner beauty is usually nelected by ignorant ppl but ppl will c ur inner beauty once they know u and they appreciate ur talents, abilities and skills. Having great beauty but very ugly heart will turn men off 2.

To some extent...yes. I feel ugly when gaining weight and feel beutiful when losing weight but a lot of beautiful people are vain and the more praises they get the more vain they become. I think it affects self esteem a lot because the society always promotes "sex sells" like in advertisements all over the country and it's not always good for people because it makes them want to have plastic surgery, all kinds of beauty improvements and people now r only looking for superficial things.

It is like this. Confidence comes from other people following you and looking after you. Beauty attracts people genetically and this was very true in our ancestors days (like in the stone age). In our days it is also true especially for women because men are specifically attracted by looks, but as the society change intelligence really became more attractive. The problem is that intelligent people often spend a lot of time alone because of they're passions and are not social people. So confidence really comes from other people admiring you for some quality, doesn't matter what it is.

I consider myself a good lookin girl, in most situations I'm confident, i certainly come across that way, i have a friend who is a very pretty young woman, but she just oozes this nervousness, from the way she walks, talks, the lot. So being beautiful doesn't make you confident on a whole no, it has to come from within. But it can give you the boost if you feel good by your appearance to be more confident. It all depends on the person!

Sometimes it can yes. If someone has never really thought of themselves as beautiful, and then styles themselves to be such, then it can give them a sense of confidence. They may feel more 'visible' and of interest to other people.

On the other hand, some really beautiful people can also be very shy. They feel that everyone else is looking at them (even if for very positive reasons).

It does affect your self-esteem, but that is largely to do with how you have been brought up, and WHETHER YOU HAVE FELT LOVED.

I can think of a really beautiful girl who is also very shy and thinks herself ugly, because she has been brought up to have a lack of confidence. I can also think of a very beautiful girl who has a lot of confidence because she was brought up to feel good about herself.

A lot depends on how you feel inside. If you feel good about yourself, and really appreciate yourself on the INSIDE, it will show up on the outside. You will have a kind of 'positive glow' which will manifest as self-confidence and appreciation of yourself and others.

You know when they say: it's inner beauty that counts... The meaning of that is that you can be the prettiest girl on earth, but if you don't appreciate yourself, if you haven't learnt how to respect yourself, care for yourself, know your limits, be a good communicator, have self esteem, etc., you can't be as confident as you could be.

I suggest you look for information on the net about Abraham Maslow's pyramid of needs... You'll find really interesting his theory on how you get to self esteem.

Beauty does not always make people more confident.

But on average, it does. This is because of the different signals of acceptance & appreciation that beautiful people receive.

It can also make you arogant, fussy & right-wing (feeling you deserve better). You are likely to be more bothered by people persistently following you, and you are likely to feel you have good chances of bedding the most desirable male.

Beauty does create a "false" sense of confidence. You see, real confidence is "through & through", meaning that it comes from inside of your heart, soul, and mind. The kind of pseudo confidence that comes with beauty fades as a person's beauty fades over time.
To reply to question about appearance, I believe that it is very important, but it doesn't mean that you have to be beautiful. It means that you must take care of yourself and put your best foot forward.

Beautiful people aren't always self-confident. Some very confident people aren't what you would call classically beautiful.

Does it really matter? Beauty is ultimitely in the eye of the beholder, so everyone is beautiful to someone else.
