Im assuming youre talking about the current Red Devil squad since Man U has won the CL(1999 I believe was the last time with GIGGS who was instrumental, Beckham, etc) Ive always liked Giggs- hes as fast as Cristiano and doesnt dive as much. But the "great" team is subjective, yes MJ has a point with if you win the CL you are the best of the best and the league youre the countries best. But England was hampered in the CL due to the horrific incident in the 80's and are just starting to recover from that. I believe Man U is a great team, regardless of whether they win the CL or not. England is a tough league, if not the toughest in the world and to see them just running away with the competition this year suggests they are a great team to me. And no MJ, Rivaldo, although a great player. is not considered better than Ronaldinho. He won the WPOY once in 99.

I think it is a great statement! The Champions League is the greatest League in Europe - therefore winning it shows that truly you are great. Man United are yet to win the Champions League!

However, if we go by what Henrik Larsson says - that makes Liverpool the great team in England, since it has won the Champions League more that any other English team. That is taking it to the extreme I think. The greatness of any team should be judged by other silver wares as well, not only the Champions League.

the key player of the 1999 team must have been schmichel hes one of the reasons we won the final. Combined with 4 great/good strikers competeing for 2 places. they are a great team but that doesnt preclude them from being the greatest at the moment.

i site as an example Peter Shilton and Ray Clemence both were Great goal keepers. yet one kept the other out of the top spot for England does this mean in the context of time that Ray Clemence wasnt a great Keeper. My thoughts are NO but he just had the misfortune of being around when another great keeper just had the perceived edge over him. He would still walk into virtually any great current team. And the same can be said of winning the European CUP again. There is a certain element of luck involved as well as greatness to get there

Well if he was talking about current team then he is right, but to say that Man U with Cantona, Beckham, Giggs etc. is not a great team is not fair!!!! Barca had great team with Rivaldo, who is considered as better player than Ronaldinho, but they didn't win the CL so they never got the respect that they should...... if you win the domestic league you're the best in your country but when you win the CL, you're The Best of The Best!!!!!

I disagree, any team is great, it is an honor to win of course. But it does not mean that if any team goes home without winning, they are not considered great. This is football, it's a game, there's always going to be a winner and a loser. Man U is a great team win or lose.

They are a good team. But to be GREAT they have to reign in Europe. So Larsson is right.

true. but no one can play mesmerizing football like em. their team work is awesome. HOW MANY TEAMS CAN BE A MAN U? None.

but still I love Man U..don't care whether they are the best team or not. As long as they can thrash chelsea, liverpool, arsenal, man city..i am happy.

pftttttttt........NO

a great team is not measured by if you win a champions league...no it's measured by how much talent, skill, ambition your team has. also, how much games you win, and what your statistics are.. i mean let's face it....you could win the champions league but be a sucky team.....that doesn't mean you are GREAT...

i so disagree with the statement you wrote...
