They are the 2 major parties in the United States currently. They offer differing views on how to govern. Neither is 100% correct, or else the country wouldn't be split down the middle on the two (but try to convince a party loyalist of this).
Ignoring the most heated arguments...
In the most basic terms: Democrats identify with liberalism, and generally favor larger government programs, social welfare, unions, and secularism (no church involvement). Generally they prefer lower taxes on the middle/lower classes and higher taxes on the upper class and companies. Republicans, considering themselves to be conservative, generally support lower taxes across the board, smaller government services, larger military, free trade, and try to give companies a free hand in the marketplace. Environmentalists, Teacher's unions, and minority groups usually back the Democrats while churches and companies back the Republicans.
Please note that not all politicians follow these policies exactly.
Both parties have their peculiarities: Democrats favor a woman's right to choose abortion, but disfavor the death penalty. Republican's are pro-life, but favor the death penalty.
Many of these policies have changed from party to party over the years. Democrats use to be more military minded (Vietnam and WWII), and Republicans were the party who freed the slaves (but later came out against civil liberties in the 1960's - they have apologized since).
The Democrat-Republicans of Jackson where the forerunners of the modern Democratic Party. The party was founded to support states rights and a strict interpretation of the Constitution opposite the Federalist Party. Note that both of these policies are not followed by the modern Democrats. The party split in the early-mid 1900 century, with the desserters forming the modern Republican Party, of which Lincoln was part of.

Democrats and the liberal party, both socially and economically. Republicans have more traditional values. The Republican Party in Jackson's time used to be the liberal party. This changed after the civil war. The Republicans became the party it is today.

The Democratic and the Republican Parties are the two major political parties in the United States. The major difference is that Democrats are considered liberal and Republicans are considered conservative. These are generalizations however and don't really mean all that much in the day to day business of government. The two parties are really havens for particualr ideas and candidates for political office. The idea is to provide a kind of choice to voters.

The Democratic-Republican Party refers to a defunct major political party of the early 19th century that was formed in opposition to the Federalist Party. That party was referred to at various times as Democratic-Republicans, or Republicans or sometimes even as Democrats. It is not related to the current Republican Party. The current-day Republican Party was formed in 1854 as an anti-slavery party, primarily as a result of opposition to the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854. Its first elected president was Abraham Lincoln.

Democrats would be more liberal, and are known to support, abortions, gay marriages, illegal immigration, and so on. Well Republicans would be conservatives and not want to rock that boat, and sticks closely to the traditional values left back for generations in our history of America. But, I truly appreciate the system in place, because it makes all issues debatable and open for voting giving majority its place. Then the supporters of these parties come here on Y!A to argue and cut each other down relentlessly. But, there are still those few who leave good responses and questions to engage.

To put in simple terms, Republicans believe in the USA and the Constitution. Democrats undermine our country and don't give a damn about the Constitution. Once their in power and get enough liberals on the Supreme Court, kiss your *** goodbye.

the foremost distinction is republicans have self assurance in decrease taxes and republicans have self assurance in springing up huge deficits. The Democrats desire larger taxes and spending, on a similar time as balancing the funds and reducing deficits with severe taxes. the two events have self assurance in severe spending and springing up a great government with huge regulations. the two events have self assurance in changing over our government to Socialism as quickly as achieveable, utilising France and Europe as our type. So in time the foremost distinction is Republicans are springing up a financial disaster for our u . s . a . as China will quicker or later end lending us funds by way of becoming danger of our huge debt and this could reason great worry and an financial melancholy as employer is now no longer keen to speculate in a faltering financial gadget. human beings will end paying for inventory (employer possession) and growth investments and could desire secure investments. This loss of capital to speculate in employer will deepen the melancholy and the government would be so broke it could't be waiting to rescue the rustic, so the melancholy could be worse than that in the time of the 1930's. So the foremost distinction is Republicans are springing up doubtlessly catastrophic danger with extra spending. and that they are springing up a great government it is so corrupt and inefficient it can't help electorate in disaster like Katrina. it is going to don't extra suited if a melancholy strikes. while the Democrats a minimum of will rapidly enhance taxes to objective to stability our funds so we now no longer have self assurance in new debt to finance our great government. So in this subject the Democrats attitude is plenty safer for our u . s . a ., while the Republican attitude is reckless and unwise. short term the Republican attitude is great for the financial gadget and could be long term in the event that they could experience their tax cuts with spending cuts. yet their attitude is corrupt in that they don't have the honesty to try this so as that they are putting our u . s . a . at great danger. the place the Democrats do no longer seem to attitude government that way.
