how come rex rabbit fur is sooooo silky & soft?

i had one but it died of old age i miss it alot it was a rex rabitt

Rexes and Mini rexes were bred for their fur, like Angoras and Jersey Woolies were bred for their wool. Different breeds for different uses.

It feels that way because Rex rabbits don't have any guard hairs like other rabbits do. The guard hair is a longer hair that most other breeds of rabbits have. The shorter hairs are softer than the longer ones. Rex fur was created through a mutation that occured in a few rabbits. The mutation was used to create the rex breeds similar to the satin mutation in rabbits.
