Giving it a try is the best option, sometimes you think you will love something and it turns out you hate it.

You can never be sure. The average american changes careers 5 or 6 times nowadays. The reason is that people change and grow as they get older.

I started out as a classical musician. After 5 years I started working in insurance just to pay the bills. I realized I hated corporate life and wanted to be self-employed. I went to law school and hung out my shingle. I've been a lawyer for 11 years but I'm ready for a change. I like lawyering but I'm bored. I'm 45 now and I'd like to try something more fun - I'm starting my own real estate agency out of my house. I like self-employment. I like the excitement of trying something new. Real estate and law kind of overlap too. I wish though on many days that I did something more creative - like art or crafts. I day dream a lot about owning my own jewelry store or ebay store or antique store. Sometimes I just want to retire and do nothing. I know I want less stress now that I'm older. I want more freedom and fun too. Don't get too wrapped up in the word career. Career is just a fancy word for work. follow your passions and interest and ignore the word career. You'll end up much happier than the person who rigidly conformed to the idea of choosing a career!! Its all work - you might as well have fun and make some good money if you can ... Good luck!!

Hopefully you have chosen something you love. However, this doesn't always guarantee that you can stand it as a career with the prospect of many years of doing the same thing.

The only way to satisfaction that I have found is to work for yourself then you can tweak the job and go in the direction you want. I had a career that I loved but those in charge gradually moved it so that it wasn't what I had started with. I just became so stressed out that I decided to leave. Since then I have worked for myself and it is great.

You never know in the beginning what you want to do for the better part of your life. I started as a cashier in a grocery store because I enjoyed being around people. Two years later I went to a job in an insurance company, coding policies. It was fun for awhile but two years later I went back to school to learn to be an optician. Thirty years in the same profession and I loved everyday of it. It wasn't without its drawbacks but the work was fantastic. A few years ago, I retired and of course the inevitable happened, I got bored. I started working part-time as a pet groomer. It seems I had a talent for it. I am the only groomer in the area that can work on aggressive or just badly behaved animals and not have to sedate them. As much as I loved being an optician I love this more. Now I'm also training dogs in obedience.
You never know exactly what will make you happy. My advice, try a few different professions and find the one that lets you fit in comfortably. Don't be in a rush and say I'm going to be 'whatever' because you may find that one particular job doesn't fit you but a combination plate may be just what you're looking for. Even if you've studied and obtained a degree toward a specific profession, it doesn't mean that's what you have to be. It will, however, look good on your resume as your looking for the job that you want to stay with for a good long time.

There is no guarantees in this world. You could take some career tests to find out what your aptitude is for a job. I think the more you enjoy your job, the less likely it is to feel like work and then you won't hate it later and burn out.

Unfortunately it's a risk you take isn't it. Life was never meant to be easy. Try try again if you still don't succeed try again until you do find the one for you.
Problem is beggars can't be choosers. First find out what you are good at weigh the pros and cons. Find out which one that will come close to your goals and go for it.

Otherwise you will go through life thinking your hopeless. Give everything a chance before you say to yourself you can't do it.
Be thankful you have that.
Good luck

just stick with what you haved liked for a while, what your passion or you hobby is. If you don't like cleaning after you cook, don't be a chef. Try to find a job that has the least cons!

Best way to not hate your career is do what you love.

When you have absoluty nothing to do, what do you do?

That's is what you love to do, then find a way to make money doing it.
