They are trying this on us in the UK too - it should be resisted all the way.
I come from a free country and as far as I am concerned it is going to stay that way. Don't cooperate!

Maybe it's not such a bad thing if they can build a technology to where it can be nearly foolproof and nearly impossible to counterfeit.
Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Big Brother and I'm all for the government keeping it's hands out of my business.
It would stop a lot of illegal aliens and people who shouldn't be in the U.S. It could even be a deterrent to identify theft, requiring you to open credit accounts with it's use. It could be accepted all across the U.S. (you ever showed an out of state drivers license to a State Trooper?)
Look, you already have a Driver's License, a company ID or even a Student ID and of course a Social Security Number. What's one more ID card?
Besides, European countries (some of the most liberal in the world) use them without any problems.

ID me...It's just another card that is going to gather dust and lint
in the dardened corners of my wallet ,however if that same ID
gaurantees me Health Care,Provides a Savings for my
Retirement,Offers me a Tax break on my Purchases,Has a
plan to put my kids through College and Insures that my Vote
doesn't get shredded or miscounted during Elections
Then that card wouldn't be just a card....That would be the Bomb

in simple terms yet another type of junk that the authorities is in simple terms no longer in a position to regulate! you could wager it is going to cost us money, extra workers will be mandatory in an already thoughts-blowing type of Federal businesses. the authorities already has a nationwide identity card, actually everyone who's a citizen has a Social safe practices card, that would favor to be sufficient!

Correct. Everyone has a drivers license or state ID. We don't need Big Brother forcing us to carry a national ID car--ESPECIALLY one designed so they can track everyone's movements.
One more example of the neocon/Bush agenda to destroy the freedom our forethers fought and died to give us.

It simply means we are one step closer to having big brother track our every move. However, you are foolish if you think you are not being watched by the government in one way or another anyhow.

Heck yeah, who cares if it makes it harder for illegal immigrants and criminals to get bogus ID? Just keep enjoying freedom until it gets taken away by somebody who doesn't subscribe to the idea of letting everybody do whatever they want, legal or not.

Just wait till we all get GPS microchips embedded into our bodies, that's the direction we're headed in.

I am totally opposed to it.
It is just another bureaucracy, more waste of dollars, makes government bigger and more intrusive, and does not make us any safer.
