It depends on the ff.:
- how frequently you post/update your website with contents (Yahoo likes frequent updates)
- how much quality content you have (Useful contents like how-to articles is perferred)
- how many link backs your site has (the more websites linking to yours, the better)
- how many SEs list your site (If your page is in Google, MSN, etc; then possibly you also be in Yahoo)

That does depend on keyword optimization as well as content.
I've seen examples of where a new site has shown up within the first page results and within 24 hours of launching.

Build inbound links to your website. The more you have, the quicker Yahoo & Google will find your site and index the pages.
Most of the directories online charge a one time fee to review your site and add it to their index. Here are three of my favorites:

The more inbound links to your site, the better you will rank
with Yahoo / Google / MSN.
