Nunavut is located east of North West Territories. It is connected to the Mainland. The North West Territories was split in two and the eastern half was named Nunavut and the western half remained the north west territories.

It isn't. Nunavut is part of the main land of Canada. It's not an island and it was originally a part of the NorthWest Territories.
