I need a cell phone that will operate in Port Orford, Oregon. I stay there 3 months a year. Last year I activated Net 10 prepaid but it would not work in the Port Orford area.

I disagree with the previous answerer. Verizon does have service in Oregon, but their coverage on the coast is limited to major cities and close to the highways. The best coverage in Coos and Curry counties is http://edgewireless.com.

If you check the coverage for Verizon using this link(http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/vzwfly) you will see that Port Orford isn't listed.Sprint shows coverage (http://coverage.sprintpcs.com/IMPACT.jsp?mapzip=97465) but I think they use other carrier's towers.

If I was coming to the area for only a few months, I would either pick up a prepaid cell phone at 7-Eleven or would go with Cingular/AT&T. Edge Wireless is related to Cingular/AT&T and uses the same equipment. If you have an existing service agreement in the Cingular area, using your phone in the Edgewireless coverage area for a few months and it won't be a problem. You'll get the best coverage in the area. Unfortunately Edge doesn't offer a prepaid phone, only 2 year agreements.

I'm a former AT&T/Cingular customer - now with Edge in this area after exploring all the options...
