Well I can only speak for myself, and please do check with your dr or pharmacist, but I take glucosamine/chondroiton each day after food. I take it in capsule form and the one that I take has bromelain (found in pineapples and is also supposed to aid in digestion) and quercetin (antioxidant found in apples). It does help with my neck and back pain to a certain extent.

A friend of mine is taking mangosteen(sp?) juice for her knee that has cartilage damage, and she said that that is helping her. How about also moist heat such as from a heating pad (but please do Not fall asleep while using the heating pad as it can be a fire hazard). When I do take anti-inflammatory meds such as motrin, I always take it After food to help prevent stomach irritation.

How about also relaxation techniques? I also did water/aquatic therapy last year, and it really did help me with my pain level along with gentle stretching and muscle strengthening exercises and such that my physical therapist had instructed me in. Wishing you the best :)

P.S. Absolutely finding out what is causing the pain is crucial to rule out anything serious. I was just presuming that you knew what the root cause was ;) And if wanting to try physical therapy, your doctor must give you a referral. Health insurance may cover most or part of the therapy bill.

I agree with Doctor J ....First take care of the pain then find out the cause and try to prevent it...If you could give some specifics on where the pain is?

Hi Slither. You may not find my answer very practical, but ... the best way to treat any pain is to find and fix the cause of the pain. Treating only the symptom of pain, without treating its cause, is a 'fools game'.

So, what type of pain are you having? And what might be causing it?

5 HTP - This supplement raises your serotonin levels and in turn
