I have been renting for over 4 years and have never had a late payment any damage to properties or anything like that. Is there any way I can get money off of my monthly rent?

I doubt it, but you can always ask. Asking is free.

Sometimes, they'll offer incentives to keep good renters although i don't think they'll just change the amount due monthly. I've had apartments offer "X" amount of $ off the next month's rent if I sign a new lease, for example.

It probably needs to be a buyer's market and they probably need to not be sure about your intentions. Wait until the last minute to sign a new lease or let them know, nicely, that your looking around.

The rent probably goes up on renters, more than down. They know it's inconvenient and expensive to move once one gets settled in.

Nope, not unless the apartment complex is owned by a close relative.
What you pay for rent is based on many factors including: the price of real estate in your area, comparison to similiar size apartments in your city, property taxes, availability, etc.

The only solution for you would be to locate another, less expensive apartment in your area, give 30-day notice and move.

My husband and I were discussing this very thing a couple of weeks ago. What we came up with was that the smaller, family owned complexes may negotiate rent; unfortunately for renters, the bigger ones won't.

The amount of rent is RARELY negotiable unless you are dealing with a VERY small management company. That is just my experiance.

Depends on the apartment owner/ management. If the owner is real personable you probably can. Also, if they are in real need of tenants then they might give you some kind of deal. Outside of this you might not have too much luck.

Sometimes you can, depending on how much work needs done to the apartment.
