I think they do. With most of their starters returning to offense and defense, they have wil have a lot of talent.

YES, I'm not the only one who thinks this, they play Ohio State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Purdue at home and playing in Beaver Stadium is one of the hardest places to play for an away team. The only obstacle they have is playing against Michigan at Ann Harbour in week four. Penn State has a lot of anger against Michigan (two years ago last second loss that caused them a perfect season and the 17-10 loss at home in 2006) and I think they could win this game. I believe if they win their first three games, then beat Michigan, they should make it to the national championship.

As for players, the team is great, all they really need to do is find a good replacement for Tony Hunt and only if they could replace Kevin Kelly.

They have a decent shot. However, but if they go undefeated and two other teams from BCS conferences go undefeated Penn State will be left out. Even with the loss of Paul, Penn State's defense will be amazing. Penn State has no trouble recruiting talented linebackers and there will be no weak spots on this defense. The offensive line should be pretty good. The receivers are great; however, its time for Derrick Williams to step up and show why he was the top recruit in the country before. Morelli should improve. The difference between his play in the Outback Bowl and the regular season was like day and night. Hopefully he'll get his act together. The running game is the biggest concern. Austin Scott could be really good but he needs to lay off the pot.

As far as the schedule goes, Notre Dame and Ohio State are in rebuilding years and should be beaten. Michigan and Wisconsin will be the two toughest games. I think Wisconsin is very beatable, but Michigan will be a crap shoot. That game could go either way. If Penn State beats Michigan it will take a turnover free game by the offense, big plays by the defense, and the coaches to call good plays. If Penn State beats Michigan the big ten and an undefeated season should be in their grasp.

I think they will have a excellent season but as far as a National Championship, who's to say. I've always been a Penn State fan and can remember when they were an independent. I actually liked that better. They were free to pick their schedule and play the best teams from all over the country. Ever since they joined the Big 10 it's never been the same. I realize the school had to do it for financial reasons but I still miss those annual regional wars with Maryland and West Virginia.

Sorry hon. The Broderick Green situation is very indicative of what's wrong there. Here you have a recruit who was born to play running back in Joe Pa's system, who would've walked into the starting spot with Hunt gone, and... he decides to be USC's 8th 4/5 star running back and fight for playing time. At least there he would have a chance at a national championship. Now Penn St. is left with two mediocre redshirt seniors to build a running game around. The dream is done. Like Bowden, Paterno's time has come and gone.

If Florida State knocks off Florida, and Florida wins the SEC, and if USC loses between the subsequent 2 opposition video games, Penn State ought to get in. even with the undeniable fact that, the desktops love the huge 12, so in spite of if the voters positioned them at 2, you should be certain a great 12 rematch recreation, it extremely is retarded. i might quite see Utah interior the sport. guy decrease than me, anybody reported that throughout regards to the huge 12 whilst they have been given embarrassed in back to back call video games, and inspect them now.

This is exactly why, even though I have lived in PA for the vast majority of my life, that I cannot stand PSU fans.

To answer your question........NO! Do you really think you can go undefeated just b/c you are returning relatively weak starters. Do you think PSU stacks up to the major colleges?

Give me a break. Let Joe go and maybe we can talk. Until then, this program is 20 years old.

Sorry but I think it will be hard with their defensive leader Paul Posluszny leaving and Tony Hunt leaving. The Big 10 is still too tough.
