Middle East has become home to a lot of extremists who don't share our cultural values, like separation of church and state, freedom of choice, artistic expression, any kind of rights for women, tolerance of different cultures, and many others.

Governments in the Middle East generally treat their people very badly and do not use their vast wealth to improve living conditions. Most people live in poverty and are fed a lot of propaganda why their neighbors and foreign interests are to blame for their condition. Violence is a daily reality for many people there. Naturally this results in a lot of grumpy people who really just want to be left alone and in peace.

The media then shows all the worst stuff and none of the great cultural or historical wealth of the region. Extremists see that they get lots of attention from violence and the media benefits directly from the ratings boost and politicians use the attention for their own purposes.

So the sad truth is that the Middle East is trapped by history and those groups that could solve the problem have little interest in doing so because they benefit directly from the conflict.

On some level most people sense this and so feel badly for the region and it's people.

Because of the negative stereotypes perpetuated by the mainstream media, and due to people's ignorance. Because of the association between Middle-Easterners and terrorism, people assume that all Middle-Easterners and/or followers of Islam are hateful, violent people.

They have the mentality that every middle eastern is either smelly or a terrorist or some other horrible stereotype that this country has labeled them. People are people no matter where they come from, some just can't see past that....that your country does not dictate who you are as a person.

First of all, this isn't a science question.

People think badly about middle easterns because the ones about whom we hear the most from the media are the terrorists, dictators, and insurgents. The more peaceable ones rarely make the news.

It is very plainly,a stereotype.They did a segment on it for a TV show, on how if a Middle Eastern went to the airport,extra precautions and measures were went too---even to the extent of delaying the plane.

because people like that dude dicicios above me are stereotypical and have wrong analysis on people, just because there are a few crack heads out there ruining the name for middle easterners, doesnt mean that others have to get at all the other innocent people who have done nothing.

it's the stigma of the times we live in...most people are ignorent to what it means to be middle eastern...they think Middle Eastern = Terrorist...it's stupid, racist, and unfair but thats the way it is now a days...it's sad, people are cappable of greatness and instead of striving for it they sit back and let the ignorent media driven views of others shape who they are and what they know...i hope that's answer enough...

well first off. all they ever do is start wars over religion.

Okay tell me this before we invaded iraq before 9/11 when we had peace time. we would have had peace on earth but guess what middle easterns fighting over religion like aways.... and being sneaky and not letting us check weapons in iraq and terrorist aways starting ****. i think we should nuke the whole mid west that way we can all live with out having to deal with them damn ppl starting crap.

They burn the U.S. flag, shoot and kill each other for the last three decades, preach the annihilation of the Jews, post beheadings of Westerners, and is the place where terrorists of the world come from.
