how do you sing?

i can't get lessons,and i'm trying to teach myself.is there anythings i could do to know if i'm good at it (besides asking anyone)

When you sing to yourself out loud do you go like off-key?? Or do you have pretty clear voice or one of those husky voices??

Analize that, and you'll see

First, look for an easy song, if you can take it well, then try to sings harder songs, try a Xtina Aguilera, or Celine Dion song, those are pretty strong singers.

first of all, relax. tension screws up your singing. also, keep balance and dont lock your knees when standing up. if you do, it makes you a little light headed.

second of all, learn how to breathe from your abdomen, not your throat. that way, you have more air and you dont hurt your throat and voice.

for better diction, use all the muscles of your mouth. overdo consonants. make sure vowels arent spread too wide by pulling your jaw down and lifting your pallete (the place of your mouth where peanut butter gets stuck).

for better projection. make sure your tongue is flat. try to make it touch the bottom teeth most of the time, especially on the high notes.

practice tone by practicing next to a piano and trying to hit the note you just played. on the high notes, make sure you dont strain for the notes. try to picture a hill while hitting the note so it wont end up too sharp. its like you're going up and up and when you reach the top, its rounded and its as if you're looking down on it...i know it kinda doesnt makes sense, but dont worry, you'll get it. for low notes, dont press on the note. keep it light.


and most of all, just have fun. you might not always follow these rules while singing, but just have fun with singing. if singing is your passion, sing away. dont always think that a person's going to always judge you like simon cowell. think positively.
