From almost every woman I've talked to who went off birth control, it took them over 4 months to conceive. Also, I've heard the average amount of time for conception is 6-8 months. If you haven't conceived within a year, I'd go see a doctor.

There's a website http://www.fertilityfriend.com that will help you.

Good luck!

I'm in the same boat and have been only trying for 2 months. I took birth control pills for years and I'm hoping to get pregnant. I've had friends get pregnant within the first 3 month after being off the pill (one of them got pregnant after one month) and it took my sister 4 years. So, it really can happen at any time! I really feel that it's all about timing. Since it seems you are having pretty regular periods, I'd really start tracking your ovulation time and go from there (lots of sex...and have fun with it). Remember, it's only been 3 months and I've heard that on the average it takes 6 months or so to conceive with a normal cycle. Stay positive! Good luck to you!

well, try 6 yrs...
since no dr. will see you for a yr. here is some advice to keep you ahead of the game.
Take a prenantal vitamin with plenty of folic acid, it will prepare your body for the baby and keep it healthy. instead of taking a double dose take half. if buying the wal-mart brand. Next, if you plan to excercise throughout your pregnancy, start now. You won't be allowed to start an excercise program, if you haven't started one before and gotten your body used to it. (they make take you off strenuous ones so think yoga, stretching, light arobics)
Drink plenty of water, get your adequate amount of veggies etc.
loose any extra weight you may have, it could hinder the fertility process.
If you are to much under weight gain some because it will do the same. Weight deals with estrogen etc. (Research body mass, etc)
If you are planning any surgeries, get them done before you get pregnant.
Get a prenantal check up. look for any infections, diseases such as hypo or hyper- thyroidism, endometriosis, PCOS,etc.
If all comes out fine then look up Basal body temperature charts on the net and buy a BBT (basal body thermometer) you can get it at walmart. And also get a ovulation test kit. This is so you double up. Keep your chart, pen and thermometer by the bed and take the temp at the same time every morning before getting out of bed. Read the directions they give you and you will know when you ovulate also check with the ovulation kit you have bought. then Do it like rabbits. The idea is to do it as much as possible before you ovulate and during. It up's your chances.

By the way, the reason I haven't gotten pg. in so long is a medical condition so you may want to get those checked out.
Good Luck To You!!!

I don't think it's your pill that you are not getting prego. I was on the pill for 8 years, I stopped in August and was pregnant by December. But everyone is different. Take prenatal vitamins like Materna. You can get them at Walmart, cheaper there. However, there is a materna brand called Equate and it's exactly the same thing as Materna from Centrumm (sp?) and it's a few dollars cheaper. Take care of your body, eat healthy, drink plenty of water and have sex. Make sure you don't stress about getting prego because it works the opposite. Just let nature take it's course. GOOD LUCK.

When we first tried, we tried for about 6 months, I got pregnant, had a miscarriage and didn't want to try again for awhile. I was on birth control for quite some time and as soon as I got off of it I got pregnant (1 month!!) I think it all depends on when you are most fertile. (i've known many who have kids with birthdays in the same month!!)
I've tried the ovulation predictor tests. They are kind of pricey, but they will let you know if you are ovulating so you can time things better.
Best of luck!!

I can't tell you much because my situation is not much different then your but I can tell you that gettin your cycle does not mean that everything is working properly. Get a check-up and tell your doctor about you plans. Plus it takes the average couple 6 months to conceive. Good Luck!

I used an ovulation test kit & got pregnant on the first try with the kit. They are very good & they work. You can usually get a better price if you get the 5-day test kit & some brands come with a free pegnancy test, which would save you money. Best of Luck!

Well you could buy ovulation tests to help you determine when you're ovulating. If that doesn't work then I suggest seeing a doctor. Three months really isn't that long but I know how long it can feel for someone trying to conceive. Good luck!

I've known many that take up to a year to get the effects of the pill out of their system.
Eat the proper foods to have your body ready to conceive. Check out the website below.
