Also, a second advantage is the creation of the offspring can be controlled (i.e. offspring is only produced after sexual intercourse compared to asexual reproduction where the body controls when the offspring will be created)

Well, answers to this question could be very opinionated, whether they are based on scientific evidence or not. One very important advantage of "reproduction by union of sex cells from different individuals" is that recombinant DNA (the result of this act) may increase the diversity of a population and may actually introduce important genes required for an organism to adapt to and thus survive better in a given environment.
