i am driving to cali and mapquest and yahoo have so many different turns, does highway 40 take you rite into LA? from columbus ohio

Hwy 40 hits the 15 freeway around Barstow California. To get to LA, you would need to head south on the 15, and west on the 10 freeway. The 10 runs through the middle of LA county.

I40 runs from Wilmington, NC to Barstow, CA. You would have to drive south from Ohio to hit it, and it won't get you all the way to LA. I40 runs through NC, TN, Arkansas, OK, TX, NM, AZ and CA. It is a long LONG trip that is very boring at times!!! Happy trails to you.

i dont believe 40 goes to columbus, nor into california. i drove from cleveland to Phoenix, and there were some changing of routes, but it was not at all difficult. some stretches were 800+ miles. not like going right, left, right, left.
