team tryouts for your college would be a great place to start...good luck

Generally speaking, absolutely not, but there are rare exceptions.

In the past soccer players have been converted into football kickers or punters if the team is in a jam.

Another example, a few years ago LSU tapped the talent of a few of their track stars, and used them at wide out (Xavier Carter and Bennie Brazell) however both athletes then participated on the American Olympic track team so you see how difficult it is to do

The thing you're missing isn't athletic ability or strength, it's lack of experience and first-hand knowledge of the game. College coaches don't really teach the basics but use what the players already know to improve them.

Of course there was one guy from Pittsburgh named Monk Bonasorte who had no High School football career but play sandlot football. He went to Florida State as a Walk-on and led the interception record there during the 70's.

Yea, it depends on your athletic ability and the position you want to play. I don't care what anybody says, football coaches are looking for athletes, however you have to be a freak of nature. I've never heard of Western Illinois doing to much in football, but still you may want to consider a 1-AA or even a Divison II team.

A simple answer .... NO. You must realize that college teams, even division 3, are made up of the some of the best high school talent around. So you played a part of 1 year and think you can play college ball? No way.

your chances of even making thru the try out are slim if you couldn't handle high school then d1 college is no place to start.
