I personally do believe in the power of animal totems to give insight into ones personality and influence their behavior but I just don't see what basis there is to believe in movie-like werewolves. My guess is half of those that do believe in them are trying to escape from their own realities via their imagination along with the assistance of movies like Underworld and Cursed.

i got high once and went into my front yard and was completely convinced i was turning into a werewolf. no joke. i howled and everything... and it was a full moon. then, because a friend of mine was like... go steal that sign, i jumped up onto a mailbox (5 feet up... literally jumped up... i had some superhuman strength going on), and ripped the sign out with my bare hands... so far as people honestly believing they're werewolves in everyday life without being under the influence of anything, they're just trying to escape. they don't want to deal with everyday pressures, so they pretend to be something they're not. it's all a myth that's been created by movies. if there were movies about people turning into dolls (which there might be), people would start thinking they were too... some people are just extremely succeptible to societal pressures.

"Clycanthropy is defined as a rare psychiatric syndrome that involves a belief that the affected person is, or has, transformed into an animal. It is named after the mythical condition of lycanthropy, a supernatural affliction in which people are said to physically shapeshift into werewolves. The word zoanthropy is also sometimes used for the delusion that one has turned into an animal in general and not specifically a wolf."

in addition to a state of psychosis, people used to be extremely supersitious, and anything slightly odd, such as a normal guy who happens to be very hairy and enjoys walks at night- well that's not how everyone else looks or behaves so they figured something must be wrong with him. and then they called him a werewolf.

it's like a witchhunt.

If thats what they are then thats what they are. it;\'s mean to start questions like this. It;s like asking what's with witches? I am a witch and I hate these types of questions. I AM a witch and I know more than me. I also no a few Vamp's. Questions like this are mean.
